HYDROTHERAPY AND AQUATIC EXERCISE (POOL SESSIONS)
Many people who have significant pain or mobility challenges benefit significantly from physiotherapy sessions in a swimming pool. The buoyancy of water reduces the load the muscles and joints need to carry, making it easier and more comfortable to move and build strength and resilience. Water can also be a great tool for challenging balance and core stability, and regaining movement and abilities like walking after a major loss of mobility.
In particular, hydrotherapy can be very beneficial for addressing chronic pain, surgical rehabilitation, and neurological conditions (e.g. stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury).
Jesse Robson, Physiotherapist, is certified in Aquatic Rehabilitation, and has spent more than a decade helping clients with pain and mobility challenges regain their mobility in the pool. Sessions are available at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre in Bridgewater.
